Customize IP address detection

IP addresses are automatically identified from the HTTP headers of web requests. However, in case load balancers, CDN's or proxies are used, the remote IP of the HTTP(S) request might be different from the original IP address from your user devices. Therefore, DESK watches also the HTTP headers that are most frequently used for identifying the originating IP address of a client connecting to a web server through an HTTP proxy, a CDN or a load balancer.

To view the supported headers, go to Global Settings > Web & mobile monitoring -> IP determination.

Process the default headers

You can change the order the default headers are processed. Just use the up and down arrows provided next to each header name. In case you don't want a header to be used, you can simply delete it by clicking the x symbol on the same row with the header's name. Also, by clicking the pencil icon, you can rename a header.

Add your own client IP headers

To add your own client IP addresses, click Create custom client IP headers, provide the name of your header and click Save.
